- Have a phone number for a friend or relative that lives in another city for family members to contact
- Place emergency numbers by the telephone
- Teach children their address and phone number
- Teach your young child how to dial 911 in case of an emergency
- Have a family emergency drill
- Decide how family pets will be cared for
- Take a CPR class

- Have protective clothing available that will protect the skin
- Have a sturdy pair of shoes

Your Transportation

- Have extra car keys made and kept in a safe place

Medical
|
- Have an Emergency First Aid kit
- Needed prescriptions
- Have a protective face mask available in case of breathing problems from air particles. Recommendation is a N100 or P100 mask
- Gas masks only protect if wearing it at the precise time of a terrorist attack
- To provide successful protection, the masks need to be specifically fitted for wearing and instruction should be provided on the use
- If gas masks are worn improperly, damage can occur
- Special items for infants, elderly, and disabled family members

Legal
|
- Make sure family members know where important documents are kept such as insurance papers and wills.
- Make sure wills are up to date
- Designate a relative or friend to have authorized signature authority on bank accounts
