power, was far from any serious steps to do that. The reports
strengthen our conviction that whatever threat Iraq posed did
not require an immediate invasion without international
support. And they underline the importance of finding out

much to convince Congress and the public that the attack was

about, empowering Democrats. When he attacks George Bush,
and when he attacks the other Democrats who vote for the war,
he’s doing more than just attacking a position. He’s saying to
Democrats, 'Don’t worship at the feet of George Bush. Don’t
cooperate with him. Don’t be afraid of being accused of being
soft on war. Stand up to the guy. He lost to Al Gore by
500,000 votes and he acted like he won by 500 million votes,' as
he says. He’s empowering his party to stand up on their own
two feet, to stop playing games with George Bush, and be a
real party. And what you’re seeing is that people are proud of
being Democrats again, at least in this poll, and saying, 'We’re
going to vote for Howard Dean whether he’s going to win or
not'"
