A Spiritual Imperative For Fellow Americans
As a week with many "terroist-inspiring" historical
observations begins in Iraq, ANOTHER American soldier has
been killed in ANOTHER cowardly ambush. ANOTHER ten
were wounded with machine gun fire and rocket grenades.
As the politicians in the American homeland practice various
"state of the art" techniques in opinion manipulation, finger
pointing and dodging responsibility, 175,000 or so overly taxed
USA troops in and around Iraq understandably wonder if each
day might be their last -- needlessly.
As the profit-puffing media juggle the quest for ratings points
and publication sales with at least a passable semblance of
journalistic reporting of USA political turmoil, our American
men and women pretty much go it alone with a virtually
impossible job to do on foreign sand under blistering sun.
As even this space tries to keep the focus rightly on truth,
learning and spiritual principles, it is all too easy to take for
granted what is actually happening to our own, half way
round the globe. And that is wrong.
It is past time that every citizen of this country stand up and
say "Enough!" about the position our soldiers have been put
in.
They need help. Either they need to be brought home now,
which seems starkly impractical given the situation and
choices already made, or they've got to have more support.
They aren't getting it because each of the above parties are
self-centeredly involved in our own agendas.
We are all wrong.
As a people, we need to face facts and make corrections.
Utmost urgency dictates the first correction that must be
made: get our soldiers help.
Not only do they need help now, but God forbid, what if
chemical weapons suddenly show up in the hands of Devil
Saddam's guerillas? Over taxed, over tired, stretched
thin. Without help soon, our soldiers could REALLY be sitting
ducks!
They don't have the help they need for many reasons. Let's
learn from the reasons later. Let's get them the help NOW.
These children of Americans, these parents of Americans,
these partners of Americans, these brothers and sisters of
Americans. These PROUD Americans put on our uniform and
willingly answered our country's call to battle, as we expect
them to do.
If we have learned ANYthing from history, we need to have
learned that WE OWE THEM.
I urge you to join me in writing and calling your senators and
representatives today, republicans and democrats alike.
INSIST that they do whatever is necessary to get our soldiers
the help they need NOW.
They put our soldiers there. Our soldiers are PLENTY
competent but they cannot accomplish the impossible task
they've been thrown into for POLITICAL reasons. Again!
Helping them is the only right thing to do. Your and my
demanding that they get help is a spiritual imperative.
Thank you and Godspeed to our American soldiers.
